Match Review FA QF1 | Kuching City FC 2-1 Selangor FC | Time to Bounce Back

Selangor FC lost to Kuching City FC (KUC) in the first leg of the 2024/25 FA Cup Quarter Final at the Sarawak State Stadium last night.

Although the result did not favour the Merah Kuning squad for this leg with a 1-2 result, the team can still qualify for the next round as this stage is held over two legs.

According to Nidzam Jamil, Head Coach of Selangor FC, he is confident that the team will bounce back at home, “It was not the result we wanted but we are lucky because we still have another 90 minutes to get the win. I will still be behind the players and I believe they did well last night especially in the second half. The players definitely want to turn things around in the upcoming match and are hungry to prove themselves in front of the home crowd and make sure we qualify for the next round," explained Nidzam Jamil.

From the #KUCSFC match in the FA Cup Quarter Finals yesterday, we can takeaway a few important things, such as:-

The import striker, Ronnie Fernandez, continues scoring

After scoring three goals in the Super League 2024/25, Ronnie managed to score in his second consecutive game as he opened his FA Cup scoring account in the 34th minute of yesterday's #KUCSFC.

Players still show hunger

According to the press conference that took place after the #KUCSFC match, the Selangor FC head coach stated that the players definitely showed hunger and a desire to win the next match. They will bounce back in the second leg Quarter Final match and try not to disappoint the fans and the club at home.

The Red Giants squad still has one more leg to turn things around and qualify for the next round. The second leg will take place at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya on 6 July at 9pm.

The management of Selangor FC would like to thank the supporters who flew together to Sarawak for the #KUCSFC FA Cup 2024/25 match. Hope everyone safely return home.
